Roamware announces The Arrival Of Next Generation Multimodal Communication Technology
Pioneering work fuses interactive digital content into voice calls
27th June 2007, San Jose, CA, USA
Roamware
Inc, the global leader in roaming and mobile connectivity today
announced the grant of the United States Government Seminal Patent
‘Method and System for Wireless Voice Channel and Data Channel
Integration’ which demonstrates a system and method for wireless
communications, fusing interactive digital content into voice calls.
The
new patent (United States Patent Number 7,092,370) in the field of
multimodal mobile communications – mobile telephony services that
combine data with voice calls - teaches breakthrough methods that
leverages existing public mobile network technology for integrating
digital content into voice channel calls.
In
one implementation of the method, a user of a wireless device initiates
a communication session during which a wireless data session can be
triggered from a voice session and vice-versa. During the communication
session, data is shared between the wireless data channel and the voice
channel. Roamware's CTO John Jiang, the patent's inventor adds: “This
uniquely efficient approach provides a foundation for Roamware's many
new voice and data integration products such as Voice SMS and
MediaCall.”
Started from one or many
parties, this patent anticipates communication sessions, switching
between either voice or data channels, during which context and
information can be conveyed through any of the channels, by any of the
parties. The data channel can be any data medium, including WAP, HTTP,
GPRS, IM or SMS. The voice channel can be any voice medium including an
IVR call, Voice XML, VoIP call or circuit switch call.
“Roamware
is expanding its leadership in international roaming into a range of
local and interworking value added services. This patent is further
recognition of Roamware's leadership in bringing powerful new value
added services to market,” commented Bobby Srinivasan, CEO, Roamware.
This
United States Patent Office grant awards Roamware exclusive rights over
broad coverage of a number of categories within multimodal
communications services. As a result Roamware now holds over 110 issued
and pending patent applications worldwide corresponding to 65
independent patent specifications, making the company a leading
inventor and innovator in the field of global mobile connectivity.
